I would like to have my BM Dissipator upper threaded....What I would like to know, is do most people have the Dissipator barrel shortend and then threaded or leave it at its factory length and have it threaded...

Factory length. If it's a 16 inch, you can't shorten it anyway, unless you pin/weld the F.S. on to keep it at least 16 inches.
