The "Strap" is actually 550 Cord which is shroud lines from a Parachute. and in the Infantry, everything of value is "Dummy Corded" to prevent losing it (Remember the kids with Mittens and strings attached to them) . Experienced troopies know how the field "eats" everything. so to prevent losing a High dollar item like NVG's, M68 CCO's etc. they use 550 cord to make a lanyard from "You" to the equiptment. keeps from losing Important stuff when you need it the most, and from having to pay for a "Statementt of Charges" for equiptment you signed for and then lost. |
Yup, dummy cord everything and anything. That is the golden rule. |
