soon after the ban expires I plan on getting a lower for a preban J&T 16" A2 upper I have sitting in the safe, and I plan on getting a new AR. Here are my two choices for my new AR. Which should I get? 1) NIB Colt 6400C or LE6920, whichever is available, and fix it up (i.e. FF handguards, etc.) 2) Build a SAM-R or something of that nature, probably with ACOG instead of a scope. I'm assuming, if I can even get my hands on a NIB Colt after the ban expires, that it would cost approx. 1k plus money for extras (optics, FF handguards, etc.). On the other hand, I could build a SAM-R type. I ran a search on SAM-R's and got a lot of useful info but didn't get it all. About how much would a SAM-R build run me? I assume I could use any brand standard lower. But how much what a SAM-R upper cost to build (Krieger barrel, BUIS, etc.)? I would use either KAC RAS or DD 12.0 handguards. BTW, after I put a lower on my J&T upper that will leave me with two carbines and one 20" 'plain jane' Bushy A3. I need all the info, help, recommendations, and opinions I can get. |

If you already have a couple of carbines, go for the SAM-R type upper. The upper should run around $1200 (Kreiger and DD), (plus bolt carrier group and BUIS) The Kreiger adds alot to the price. We have some info on the SAM-R At This Link |
Ha I wish I could get both. If I get an ACOG I won't be able to afford another build right away. Bravo, thanks for the link. I think I am kinda leaning toward a SAM-R build, but with an ACOG instead of a scope. approx $1200 for an upper with Krieger bbl is about what I expected. And you sell the barrels and/or custom uppers? |
