Could anyone give an opinion on either the A2 or Phantom(5C1) Flash Suppressors?

Either the Phantom 5c1 or 5c2 are the way to go!

The Phantom works better, the A2 is the military look, and is cheaper.  Go with whatever works for you.

Phantom, hands down.

Neither. Get the Smith Vortex if you want the best.

I bought a phantom, but then I couldn't put it on.  It just robs the rifle of the Military look.  The phantom is effective, but ugly as hell.

I had a Smith Vortex, actually still do, and while it actually suppresses flashes slightly better than my Phantoms, I prefer the design and looks of the Phantom. The Vortex's "tuning fork"design just didn't work for me and always tended to hang up on things, especially while hunting. IMHO, I think the tradeoff with slightly better flash suppressing and design is worth it.

Kurts Kustom Fire Arms has a flash hider called the mil spec essentialy a birdcage the same legnth as the phantom so you get the look and legality.

Better yet, get an old 3 prong M16 for $8. More effective than the Phantom and almost as good as the Vortex. Plus you don't have to worry about the prongs opening up and breaking like I've seen three Vortex hiders do.

Yeah, only 6 or 8 dollars, but to properly tighten it, you need a special wrench.  But you can do a fair job with a brass rod of proper diameter.

I'm mostly a function over fashion guy, but that would look like an uncircumsized sausage on a HBAR!

Right here.  I have a new 5C2 ready to install, as well.  I DO think the 5C1 looks better, but I like the teeth and I'm not afraid to use them.

+1 for the Phantom.

Get the Phantom 5C1... it has a more traditional look to it. That's what I'm going with because I'm just not a big fan of the aggresive look to the 5C2.

I  have already purchased a A2  flash hider,  still in need of a peel washer.

Phanthoms look ok,but the A2 appeals to my  liking.

Not sure how effective it is but I like the A1, unlike the A2 you don't have to line it up and is seems like with all the ports it'll kill flash better then the A2 with the bottom port closed off. True, you'll kick up dust but I really don't do that much prone shooting. Second would be the Phantom, I think they look neat but don't know if they'll do a better job then the A1.  Does anyone have any pics of each in action to we can judge the flash and see just how good each one works?

Lined up,  what  exactly  do  we need  to lined  up??

Also,  do we  have to use a peel washer?

On the A2 you have to put the closed off ports at the bottom. You do that by using the peel washer so that when you tighten the unit it'll have the open ports at the top(9-12-3 o'clock) and the closed one at the 6 o'clock positions.  With the A1 all ports are open so it doesn't matter which way it goes on.

Yep, that's why I like the A1 too, it's cheap, no indexing and if it was good enough for the government M-16's it'll be good enough for me.  I'm not worried about flash all that much anyway. Maybe at a later date I'll get a Phantom but I don't really think I NEED it.
