zrxc77, when we shot from the stern of the ship (where I'm shooting the '60 from the shoulder), we were aiming at floating ammo cans.  When shooting off the tripod, we aimed for white caps or at each other's impacts (when shooting multiple guns at the same time).  Water-shots are pretty cool and always makes for a fun time.  It wasn't cutting edge training, that's for sure.  But, it gave us a chance to shoot our weapons during the month long journey to our first port.

If interested, click here for more USMC pics:  home.netcom.com/~brownhen/index.html

A lot of people make jokes about the Air Force, but one thing I'll say is that they are willing to spend money on things the other services can't or won't.  Every Air Force person I know over here, including the staff folks back in the rear, has a desert camo Interceptor vest.  I've never even seen one in the Army, except in photos of a couple SF guys.  I'm sure our guys will be wearing green ones until the end of this conflict.

Not for very long, I imagine (the floating part, that is)...

Thanks for the explanation Dan, and the links to more pictures.  Very interesting.  And even more thanks for serving to protect our country.

I can host pictures for you guys...

uploads.fakeleg.com

Put the pictures in the GUN folder from the drop down menu. Any non gun 'related' pictures will be deleted from the gun folder.

I have plenty of webspace and bandwidth so i can make the additions there a permanent attachement. I will only prune out pictures that dont relate to ar15.com or guns in some way..

You can open it up with a bullet tip.
I saw that on the Bushmaster assembly DVD.
The front pin, which is silver and against the magwell, is a spring loaded pin.
Push it with a bullet tip and the guard swings down.

You're lucky.  Ever since they put that silly deflector up, I was unable to enjoy that range.

Because of the way I sit at the bench, my 14.5" barrel ends just under the end of that deflector, so my KKF brake sends the blast up into the shield, and the shield sends it back into my face!
I've been hitting Carter's since then.

Kinda a moot point since I moved up to Huntsville at the end of June, though.......

Wow a cute girl with a weapon, nice. You wouldn't happen to mind a 19 year old college student/army national guardsman dating her would you? Cause I'm only over in Connecticut. I could show her how to shoot an AR correctly cause I have no idea whats going on there, I think she needs a shorter stock.

::Hopes chrome1 isn't a good shot::

Those things bother me too but that's the closest place I can shoot at this time. There's been a lot of negative talk about ASC so I don't even bother to check them out.
Good luck on your move.
