Hi Guys: Another post-September dreamin' question here. When the AWB dies in Sept, I have a few uppers I'd like converted to Pre-ban form. Basically jut adding a flash hider. Which one seems to do teh best job of minimizing perceived muzzle flash? A1's , A2's, Vortex, who knows what... Anyone ever have an opportunity to compare these under lower light conditions, especially with Federal XM193????? Frozenny |
| The Vortex is slightly better than the Phantom, but that's a little misleading - the Vortex is hands down the best and is virtually perfect - NO FLASH whatsoever, the Phantom can emit a small glow. If you are deciding between them, you must consider other factors of the Vortex such as it kicking dust up when prone and catching brush on the open tines. Poke factor is important to some, and while some say their Vortexes are fragile, none of the considerable number I own have so much as deformed on hard muzzle first drops and slams, nor bloomed outwards. At least one style of the Phantom has nice teeth to poke with, and sealed bottom so it doesn't kick up dust. Since I don't really go prone or into the bush with mine, the Vortex was my choice, but if I did perform those actions I would go with a Phantom. |
