I just purchased an LMT H-buffer.  When I was looking it over, I noticed when you shake it you can feel the weights inside sliding back and forth slightly.  Is this normal?  Thanks.

I have the same buffer, also a DPMS  and Bushmaster buffer, all rattle,it is the weights inside.

The buffer acts like a deadfall hammer.  When the bolt carrier slams forward, it would tend to want to bounce back, and unlock the bolt.  As the bolt carrier hits home, the weights in the buffer slam to the front, one after the other, cancelling out the bounce.  If your buffer does not rattle, something is wrong.  It should.

It's a better sign than you think.  The solid weights are more desireable than the shot type weights so that it just has sliding weights rather than a snake like rattle is good.
