Do any of you have FSB's that have a slightly thinner ear on one side than it does on the other? I just received my LMT upper and everything looked really good except for the FSB. The left ear (looking from the muzzle end) on the FSB is noticeably thinner than the right ear. Cosmetically it doesn't bother me but what concerns me is 1) the durability of the ear; and 2) how much to the left will I have to have the rear sight set at to achieve a zero? The ears on my Bushy's FSB are quite thicker. Both are forged. Here is a pic of the LMT FSB and the Bushmaster FSB. Let me know if I should be concerned with this.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I just left a message with Chip Witt @ LMT so hopefully he will get back to me and let me know what's going on. ETA: I just received a call back from Chip Witt. He told me to send my upper in and they would replace the front sight base with one that is in spec. Turn around will be 2-3 days. I will report back when I receive my upper back to let everyone know how LMT's customer service is. |
| Let me know how this situation turns out. I have been thinking about an LMT after sunset, but this has me worried. I know that the ears aren't that big of deal, but if that simple peice is out of spec then what about the rest of it huh? Makes me feel a little uneasy. Maybe I will just end up going BM. |
I just received my LMT upper back. The FSB ears are now consistent with each other as well as being thicker. It appears that they replaced the entire upper receiver and not just the FSB. When I spoke with Chip he said that my FSB was not out of spec but they would replace it with one that was more consistent. Awesome customer service. Very friendly and easy to work with people.
