I have a bushmaster A2 upper.  I would like to covert in to an A3.  What is involved in doing that?  Is this some a gunsmith needs to do or can anyone do it given they have some mechanical skills ?

i would say this is about as difficult as changing a barrel out.  I think most would agree... since it's the same thing!!!

there is a thread in here somewhere about now to change your barrell in an hour or something like that.

the important thing is verifying the headspace, but a $20 headspace guage for sure, plus you'll need a few other special tools, no biggie.

if this is the only weapon your ever gonna convert, just buy a new upper.  if you think you're hooked, get the proper tools and do it right.

Thanks for the advice I'm pretty much hooked.  I'll look for that thread on changing barrels.

Well my thinking was when you add up parts, book or video (highly reccomended!) and special tools like the action block, and the armorer's wrench, torque wrench if you don't already have one... that's all...
