I think I have my 1st AR narrowed down to:

Bushmaster XM15-E2S
Rock River LAR-15
Colt AR 15. Pre ban Sporter Match Target HB AR15

I would be using for general plinking and possible 3 gun. Your feedback and opinions are appreciated from a new AR guy. Thanks.

The Troy has assimilated me. Resistance is futile.
That and the pitting that formed in my non-chrome barrel.

They are all three fine rifles, but, Get the one that has chrome bore AND chamber.

repeat after me,

RRA. Buy an RRA upper and get a Stag Arms, Mega or Ameetec assembled lower, add buttstock of your choice. Slap together. Voila, a gun cheaper than a stock AR and suited for your purposes.

Then rinse and repeat.

    If your not in a big hurry, wait until the ban sunsets in September. Then you can order the preban features on your new gun the way you want. The 20" Gov't profile 1x9 twist barrel is a favorate of mine. You'll want a 16" carbine barrel later. 4weelin

If it were me living in Illinois I don't think I'd wait, your politico types are nuts...

I'm going to go with _DR on this one... go chrome or go home.  If you can pick up the preban Colt at a decent price, do it... And still get the Bushmaster...

Welcome to the board.  Just when you think you have it picked  . You change your mind, the longer you hang around here the more you'll change your mind . Which isn't so bad until you come to the conclusion one AR isn't enough and you need another.  Good luck
