i bought my first ar about a month ago and i have been having a blast ever since but i think i must be doing something wrong or my ar is shooting funny or my scope is really crappy or ,aybe i am expecting too much being new to this. i cant seem to get any good groups and i have shot a quite a few rounds of a lot of different ammo that ihave heard good things about from this sight. i unfortunately broke the bank on the gun and couldnt afford a very good scope so i dont know if that is the problem or not. i am using a bushmaster stainless varminter with a barska scope. I have only been shooting at 100 yards and my groups are all over 2 inches. i dont expect to be a sniper or anything like that but i would think that i should do better than this. i am also shooting with a bipod and in the prone position. just wondered if i need more practice or if i should be trying something else. thanks for your help in advance and just wanted to let everyone know that you have all been a lot of help and i have definitely gotten hooked on this hobby.

its a 6-24X on a the rings that it came with and the risers that bushmaster puts on the varminters, i have used black hills ammo, xm-193, winchester white box, pmc, umc, american eagle from federal i think thats it.

Few things.  Did you get the copper fouling out after the first 100 rounds or so.  The Bushmaster break in procedure is pretty anal but I have seen rifles that  have copper fouling and they don't group well.  Try some of the Black Hills 52 grain if you can find it.  Went on a varmint hunt in OR about a month ago and we were all getting really good groups with that stuff.  If you hvae any kind of open site try to set it up on a bench and see if it will group.  Hard to do but it eliminates a variable.
