Has anyone built or own a 6mm PPC AR?   I see a few compaines offer parts, rebarreling or complete uppers.  How do they shoot?  Accuracy?  Any feedback would be great.

Really good round if you have the barrel length to push the speeds.  The only downfall is that performace wise, the 20" barrel or shorter isn't really doing the round justice.

Benchrest rifles are usualy sporting barrel lengths ranging from 19"-23"  with most cutting them off at 21" .  When I rebarreled my Mini-30 I chambered a Douglas barrel and cut length at 22.5" to see if I could eek any performance out of the rifle.  The best group hovers in the 1 MOA range.  Much better than the 3-5" groups it was shooting.  The biggest disadvantage to using the 6ppc in a semi auto is the brass and case prep.  Depending on what reamer is used to make the barrel you will need to neck turn the Brass and then to get the most potential out of the round,  you need to use good brass (No factory ammo available).  .  Lapua .220 Russian Brass is the best, but requires necking up and fireforming to chamber.  Graf and Sons offers 6PPC brass already to be used (- neck turning),  but it's about $50.00 for a box of 100 cases Finally,  the chamber pressure you need to get the full potential of cartridge will be pushing around 60,000PSI.  Sorry if you know this already,  I shoot Benchrest matches and chamber my own Barrels for my rifles,  the old brass I use for the Mini cause I don't care about the dings and dents in the cases,  It's a great round that pushes a 66gr bullet at >3200fps,  if you are up for the reloading and cost of components,  than go for it,  you won't be disapointed ( try- www.benchrest.com - for help on Bullets, Powder, Cases,  etc.) .  I have a barrel waiting to be turned and chambered for an AR project,  but with my wife and I expecting our first Baby,  I run out of time for new projects.
Good Luck,
6ppc.

Thanks for the info.  Model 1 sales has a 24" 1-10 barrel that I was thinking of using to build a manual (bolt) rifle for manual rifle competition out to 600 yards. I have a pile of AR parts and I would have a detachable magazine which is an advantage.  I just have to shut the gas system off and add a charging handle to the bolt itself.  I know about fireforming brass but this wouldn't be a high round rifle.  The other option is to buy an Olympic .243 WSSM upper (they don't sell parst for this caliber) but its pricey and I'm trying to do this on the cheap.

I chambered a Lilja 3 groove  barrel 6PPC for my AR a few years ago. I usually single load, but it will function well from the mag. Average accuracy (I shoot varmint as well as target loads) is just under 1/2 (tgt)  to 3/4 (var) MOA . I have heard (on this board) that some smiths will not chamber for this round because of the potential for overpressure. Benchrest shooters are pushing their loads to 60Mpsi and beyond, that is more than the AR locking lugs were designed for , I believe.  If you don't want to pursue accuracy to the extent of turning necks, go with the "USA" chamber, which will have a .270 neck. If you do go with a tighter neck, I  get good feed by turning for a loaded neck of one and one half to two thou. under. You can find brass at a reasonable price, Graf has it listed.
