Can anyone tell me what causes horizontal shot stringing? ie; all shots on the same horizontal plane appr 4-5" wide.

Possible answers:

1) Crosswinds

2) Jerking the trigger

3) Stock fit problem (I found this suggestion on CCI's website - never seen the problem in person).

My guess would be #1 or #2.  Most likely #2 if you're a new shooter.

Normally body alignment. Check your body alignment-natural point of aim. Usually more pronounced in the prone. Take up a good prone position, remember bone support, don't try to muscle the weapon. Sight in, close your eyes, hold your position with the weapon, wiggle your body side to side alittle bit. OPen your eyes, you should still be on target. If not, adjust you body to have the natural point of aim. When you open your eyes and you are to the left, move your lower body to the right, an example. You should try to get straight behind the rifle.

This may be more pronounced if you don't follow through!

WOLF AMMO!

I'm serious.  One of my ARs will string Wolf ammo horizontally for some reason. (note: this was the ONLY time I tried Wolf)... it shoots nice ragged holes with decent ammo otherwise.

Sights, scope, distance, ammo, rest, conditions, are just some of the tidbits of information that might help narrow the field of possibilities.

Forest and Mark are on the spot there bro
Body Position can play tricks on you too.
Align on the target, Close your eyes and move around a little, open your eyes and look through your sites while in possition, You should still be on target somewhat.
