What is the correct way to install a USGI side sling adaptor. I'm right handed so I assume the sling will be on the Left side [when holding the rifle], but should the NSN number be on top or bottom... the D ring doesn't swivel symmetrically.

I don't feel that the function of the side sling swivel is critical enough to require it be installed to swivel a certain way.

I had to install mine swiveling forward, so that I could remove the left side panel on my RAS.

It might not have been designed to function that way, but it worked great with no unusual wear, binding, etc.

If you're right handed the swivel should be on the left side of the rifle.  The swivel should be able to go it's full tilt towards the shooter.  I can post a PIC of my 6400's swivel if you like.
