Anyone have one here? What's the general oppinion on them?My favorite shop has them for under $900.This seems like a real good price.I just don't like the plastic mags,he told me that DPMS sells 20 round mags. How is this legal?

AFAIK, DPMS does NOT sell 20-round mags.  Original AR10 mags (meaning the 60's AR10) and Knights SR-25 mags will work in the DPMS, but they typically cost around $125 each and are hard to find.  Hopefully things will change in September.

Near, I have a DPMS 308 with the 24" ss barrel.  It's a big, heavy S.O.B., but it's a freakin' tackdriver.  I have never owned a rifle this accurate, to include several bolt guns.  I have a 16" upper on order for hunting next season.  I have over 2.5K rds thru mine now, and I haven't had a single problem. (other than those I can attribute to the crappy plastic mags.  The lips came from the factory cracked, and they don't feed--I won't even use 'em for plinking.)   Just like pretty much any AR, the trigger needed a little work with the stone and file, or a swap for a good 2 stage.  I paid $100 ea for 5 SR25 preban mags from another website, and IMHO, for what I use the rifle for, I feel I got a better deal than Armalite offers.  I'm not trash talking Armalite!  Just saying that for range use and some backyard plinking, I just don't need the name brand $1800 AR10T.   DPMS says they are going to start making steel 10 rd mags this summer, and 20 rd mags after the sunset.  Now for a few bucks more, you could get the Eagle AR10T, get cheaper mags ($85 instead of $100-125) and have the few extra aftermarket goodies that don't fit on DPMS.
I figure I saved enough on the rifle to be able to afford some really nice glass.  Yeah, I like my DPMS.  I got a good deal on a rifle that does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it hasn't let me down yet.   Would I want it in a SHTF situation?  Don't know...we'll see after I try out the 16", but the 24" is way to heavy.

I've got the DMPS 24" as well.  Colt45guy is right, is is big and heavy, definitely a bench gun.  The plastic mags work fine..I probobly won't even look for metal ones when they come out.  Now, in a perfect world, DPMS would sell the uppers separately...I'd LOVE to get one of the 16" HBAR ones, as that would be a much more practical alternative to the 24".  If I have to, I'll buy the whole damn rifle...won't be happy abou it lol, but I'll do it anyway.

Either way, it's a fine rifle for HALF of what the AR10T goes for, and they are very accurate.

heh... i think a 18" h-bar w/ flutes would make a nice weapon... it needs to have the barrel&nut put on an armalite upper receiver..  that'll be my sniper/battle/hunting rifle setup..

IIRC, the 20" and 24" are both bull barrels, and the 16" is just an HBAR.  There's a 3 pound difference in weight...8.5lbs vs. 11.5lbs for the 16" HBAR compared to the other two.
