I've seen a few discusions back and forth about model 1 and the name brands.  Is the quality of the parts comparable to the less expensive brands?  Resale is not a concern, selling my firearms is a last resort, besides I have a few other expensive hobbies that can take the hit.  I plan on building on a DPMS or RRA lower, has anyone used these lowers with the kits?  Thanks for the answers.

ps. This will be my first AR I come from the dark side (AKs)

I bought one of their 762x39 uppers and it seems very high quailty to me.  I have it on a DPMS lower at this time, and the fit is perfect.  I purchased one of their pencil barrels for another upper I put together and am very satisfied with its preformance and quailty.  I go there for all my AR needs.

I've got a Model 1 7.5" pistol upper on my Frankford Arsenal M16 and have run a few thousand rounds thru it, including bursts with a Beta mag.  Looks pretty well built. The only fitting I had was the takedown pin hole needed to be filed at the bottom just a little to achieve tight lockup. The Model 1 bolt extracts the fired brass (or polymer coated Wolf) without needing an extra heavy extractor spring or the D-Fender ring. Even with the flash suppressor left on the fireball looks pretty nice :-). I would buy another.
