What muzzle break do you think is the most effective? Least noise for the shooter? I'm not talking flash hiders here, I'm talking muzzle breaks. |

The Armalite unit is a true Muzzle BRAKE, that is, it has ports pointed rearward that are supposed to reduce felt recoil. This makes it LOUD!!! Very LOUD!!! Stand next to a shooter with this brake and you will really feel the impact. But the 5.56 has very little recoil to begin with, so the value of a brake on an AR15 is questionable to me. I do use the Cav Comp on my rifles. For my post bans, I simply built using pre-ban uppers, ground the ears off the bayo lugs, touched up the spots with cold blue. Then I removed the A2 comp/flash hider, replaced with the Cavalry Arms Cav Comp, drilled and pinned, welded over the hole. This is no more noisy than the A2 flash hider, and really does control muzzle jump. It is a true comp, having two ports to the side, one on top, none on bottom. The two on the side cancel out, the one on top keeps the muzzle straight ahead. No jump at all. It is no noisier than the A2 flash hider. |

[rofl2] Perhaps that is why the guy at the range gave me a real dirty look when I unloaded a 30 rd. mag as fast as I could pull the trigger. HEY! It's not my fault he took his earmuffs off to fieldstrip his rifle. Yes I know I am a dirtbag for doing that. But I guess he will take it as a learning lesson next time he sees me. |
