I am planning on buying an ar this summer, its one of those now or never things cause in november I will have to ask the new wife to buy things.  Now on to my question, is there anyway to temorarily nueter a pre ban upper legaly until september if we get lucky enough to see the ban sunset?  I basically do not think that I can afford to by a post upper and the have to get rid of it when I want a pre-ban upper.  And I also do not want to rely on a gunsmith to thread my post barrel just in case there will be a long line and the stupid liberal gun grabbers get something through congress.  Building one completely from parts is somewhat out of the question, I want one that works befor I try and build one myself

Buy all the parts and build it in September.

If you have a post ban rifle and the ban sunsets, you'll only need a new barrel to bring the upper to pre ban specs.  They go for around 200 bucks and will save you the time and trouble of having to replace the front sight and threading the barrel.
