I picked up a military style sling for my AR and am not sure exactly how it goes on. It is the same style as this link.

Can anyone help me get this thing installed right?

Try posting this question in the competition area of the site.  That's not a military sling, it's a competition type.

You might want to check into using that sling.  I have seen discussions on whether it is a good idea or not to wrap your arm while using an AR type system vs. a one-piece stock/forearm setup...somethng about the torque created between the upper and lower causing everthing from poor accuracy to damaging the weapon.

I'm no expert but I would hate for anyone to damage their AR.

Seth, beg to differ, that picture is of a military sling isued with the M1 Garand, among others, (believe it is commonly called a Whelen type). I am not sure , but think it might even pre date the M1, going back to the 1903 Springfield. It is not a dedicated 'competition' sling, as would be one of the 'cuff' type. And you don't have to 'wrap' that type sling, the butt end is made into a sliding loop which is attached around the support arm, and used the same as most  slings are . Instruction for setting up and using should be found on a M1 garand site.
