Any one ever have the trigger pin walk out and make the disconnect fail.  I had it happen on both my BM and DPMS today when I placed them on their side for target change at a DCM shoot.

Has any one ever come across this problem and come up with a quick fix other than sending it out for locking pins?
Thanx.....

Be sure the springs are located in the grooves in the pins. They should not walk out at all. If you want locking pins, I suggest the ones made by KNS from Brownells.

What M-Forgery said.  Just wanted to add you don't have to send anything out for locking pins, they are super easy to install, and I also recommend the KNS.  If the springs are in the grooves but the pins are just loose in holes, as well as locking pins not being allowed in DCM if that's the case, get KNS match/oversized pins, they shouldn't fall out even if they are not the locking type.  I only use the locking type on my M16 to help prevent wear, but the regular oversized pins are good for all if your holes allow them, to tighten up your action.

If your still running the stock triggers, then this should be added to the above listed items.

First step is to make sure that the hammer spring legs are on top of the trigger pins, and not sitting on the bottom of the receiver cavity.

The second thing to check is the location of the spring leg bend points when the trigger was reduced down to the 4.5" DCM limit. The bend should have been made close to the coils and not down the leg.  If the bend was made down the leg, then it changes the angle of the leg against the trigger side C cut, and the C channel of the trigger side can rise the spring out of the pin groove when the trigger is pulled.

If you are running after market triggers, such as Jewels, then you need to reconfirm the installation of the parts.

Also, I don’t believe that the KNS pins are DCM legal, since they change the outward appearance of the service class rifle.

The person promoting the shoot did not enforce any kind of rules, it was a shoot what you bring event.  I guess the DCM was just to collect a little extra $$$ for his club.  I am not involved with DCM events in a competitave form nor do I shoot them on a regular basis..

Both my AR's have JP triggers so I assume it is Ok to install the locking pins..

Thank you for the help.   The funny thing about this is when the disconnect failed I was bump firing. It was the end of the shoot and I asked if I could piss some ammo away.
I was the only one with a black rifle so people were drooling over the case of toys I brought.  I got 3/4 of the way through a 30 round mag when it stopped, the promoter of the shoot came running over because he thought I was shooting a full auto..
Kinda funny wish you could have seen the look on his face after he saw the flame shooting out of the end of that 16" barrel. [%(]
