I'd like to see the forearm rail for the new op-rod placement, which I some reservations about because the potential yaw effect from the polar moment generated by the rod being located on the side of the bbl. I suppose Ares must have considered this when they redesigned it, but I'll still wait for the reviews first. Oh, & BTW - I'm not in this group, but Ares probably owes a freebe or 2 to those who plunked down cash for the initial offering over a year ago, IMO. |

Price as of now is $2995, but that flyer shows it will go up to $3495. The forces pushing the gas piston are directly opposed by the forces against the "cylinder head" opposite the piston, therefore there should be no net force to yaw the gun. Even if there was a "yaw" effect, the forces are much smaller on the piston than those due to recoil, so they should be very controllable. Look at the Steyr Aug. It has a gas piston to the one side too, and it has never been cited as having any "Yaw" effect. |

Quoted: how is it any better then a full auto AR with a beta C?? The thing does have a Mag in it in half of the pics posted. Do betas suck? I have no experience with them. this gun has a detachable barrel plus a belt fed is really how much ammo you can carry, great for suppressive fire which the beta can do but still is limited to a 100 rnds at a time, you can carry more ammo from a belt fed standpoint vs a c-mag. |

Operator2: Please quote your sources. If you have any facts to present, which isn't gossip or rumors, then we'd all like to hear it. Check out full-auto.com for more pics Ares has posted: http://www.full-auto.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=43;t=000158 Here is a pic comparing the Shrike with the M4 in size: |

Who knows about the rumors, but facts are facts. The fact is ARES has missed multiple self-imposed delivery dates and as of April 1 has not delivered production models to the masses. What worries me more is if they do deliver, what kind of support will customers receive while Ares continues to fulfill orders? If past performance is any indication, I would be worried about having a production model with broken parts and waiting another six months to a year for replacements. |

They have made other products in the past and have a good reputation for quality and service. |

Beta have tons of problem, it is very delicate and needs to be handled carefully. bang it around too much and you can cause it to jam pretty badly. It is better then a FA AR with beta because it has quick change barrel, open bolt as option and you can carry SAW pouch on your gear and feed up to 400 rounds of belted ammo. Operator2, you can say what you want, the Shrike is coming to a neighborhood near you.... I for one is dying to get my hands on my first order. |
