I have just bought the last of my two prebans, and while I bought them at a decent price what I would like to know is how should I go about selling one of them.

It's a DPMS low ser# 21x with an M16 20 inch A2 upper,with bayo lug and flash-compensater!

It's one of those E MP 5.56 nato 1/7  barrels!

I haven't taken it to the range yet, chamber looks smooth  and barrel is very good!

Should I sell it outright of piece it out?

It's an early cast and has the raised stops on the fire and safe switch!

How much should I ask for the full rifle(850.00),or say sell the lower for 6 or say 650,00?    Will the market bear this much?

Or am I just wishfully thinking?  Want to know because I am going to take it to the EE,and don't want to embarass myself!

Thanks to any replys!   Bob

Did you check the full serial number?

"DPMS 800-578-3767
Below 10300 - Pre-Ban.
Some or all lowers are cast. Black in color. Some lowers are Stainless Steel"

The way I understand it, selling just the lower turns it into a post ban lower. It has to keep all it's "evil" features to retain it's pre-ban status.
There is a thread on here titled "Want references on transferring pre-ban lowers?" that explains the whole mess. Basically you have to keep the whole thing, sell the whole thing, or buy a new, pre-ban upper and sell that with the lower. The lower by itself is technically worth no more than a new one is today. i sold one last july for $650.  i had it refinished by lauer and put new parts in.

IMO you'll be lucky if you get $700 for the lower.  i'd price the rifle at $900 as long as you're willing to bargain down $50 or so.

I would keep it if you got such a good deal. If I were to buy a Preban It would be Colt all the way (or a hell of a deal on a Bushmaster). I wouldn't waste my $ on a preban DPMS priced so closely to a Colt SP1
