i have/had a Colt Gvm't Carbine that failed to lock up after firing one round, sometimes after 3 or 4 rounds, it was frustrating as hell, i changed buffers, springs, checked the gas key, gas tube & all that...... then i read the notes about the M16 bolt assy. & it being heavier & having more forward inertia, so i ordered an M16 bolt assy. from one of our BB menmbers Tony (sorry Tony, i forgot your BB name !!) i removed the original half circle bolt assy. installed new bolt assy., checked headspace & headed for the range, fired off 6, 20 rnd mags & not one hiccup, FTF, jam or malf. of any kind. so if you ever had/have this similar problem, consider changing bolt assy. talk to Tony, he is great to deal with, packages your order as if it were a precious gem !! |
| Yep, I had similar problems on a different rifle, and the solution was an M16 carrier. The issue in my case was that the unshrouded firing pin in the AR15 carrier was catching on the hammer and slowed down the carrier just enough to make lock-up flakey. With the shrouded firing pin, all was good. |
