I want to put a Picatinny rail-type fore-end on my Colt M4 and I'm leaning toward the Knight RAS I think.  I was wondering what is involved in putting one on.  Does the barrel have to be removed for this like some systems?  Also what is the difference between the RAS and RIS.   Any other systems that go on without removing the barrel? Thanks.

With the non free-float RAS systems you do not have to take off anything but the hand guards, and replace them with the RAS. Very easy.
