First off, I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked but,... Since weapons existing prior to the current AW ban were exempt from the requirements of the ban (grandfathered), and due to the fact that this ban will end in Sept., will all weapons that are currently pre and post ban be grandfathered under any new ban that is emplaced? Basically everything that is existing prior to a 2004 or 2005 AW ban would become pre-ban since the 1994 ban will no longer exist, or am I wrong in thinking this? This is assuming they aren't completely banned all together. I'm just wishfully thinking out loud so please feel free to correct my logic. Thanks for your input. infantry556 |
| Unless there is something signed by the president to take its place you are right. The end of the AWB however has nothing to do with AWBs on the state level although it would give a legal standing to unconstitutionality if enough people where these bans exist get together and fight it.Tom Delay has said any bills pending now "will never see the light of day"the sunset provision in the current ban is automatic. The president cant sign any thing that dosent reach his desk and with the ban set to expire during an election year and 3 days after the 3rd anniversary of sept 11th I doubt any politician who wants to keep his job will press the issue. But we cannot become lax we have to keep up the fight by writing the letters and giving support.Let the politicians know where you stand and we have to keep up the fight even after the ban goes away. Not only should we never become complacent again when it comes to terrorism and those who wish to destroy america the same goes for our 2cnd ammendment and those who seek to destroy that. |
