I think EA rifles are Essential Arms units. Any pre-ban experts verify this?

This large body of knowledge, and no one knows?

Yes they did. I bought mine in 1993. It was called the EA-15 carbine. It had a 2 position aluminum stock (way too loose) A-2 sights and a 16" heavy barrel (.223 chamber) with flashider and lug. I had problems with mine until I changed out the barrel for a Bushmaster 14 1/2" with the Phantom, the 6 position sliding stock with the Bushmaster buffer and a flat top receiver. Now it rocks but I don't want to think how much money I have in it.

Thanks Cruiser. I found a new in the box one, but I did not think Eagle made any of these.

Negative. Eagle Arms and Essential Arms were two very different companies, and made very different lowers, the former making forged lowers and the latter cast lowers. Eagle Arms acquired the Armalite trademark and changed the company name to Armalite. Essential Arms got out of the AR business and sold their tooling to DPMS. -Troy

Fine and dandy, but EA lowers are Essential Arms, not eagle arms. Like I said...

Anyone have an idea what one of these would be worth?

No one's really answered the question. Troy's totally right in not confusing Essential Arms from Eagle Arms. I have sitting in front of me me NIB Eagle Arms Pre-ban AR-15 marked EA-15 serial number 166xx purchase directly from Armalite a couple of years ago. They have a stash. Yes, it's an A-2, 16" HBAR with a collapsible stock. These are forged lowers of the best quality and fit and finish. The only downside is the lack to chrome barrels.

You mean like this one?[;)][:D] What you see below is a genuine Pre-Armalite, Eagle Arms pre-ban A2 CAR-15 with a 16" unlined H-BAR! It is a beautifully machined and finished piece! The serial number is a couple thousand less than Openfire's and was purchased in early 94.[8D] So the answer is YES, Eagle Arms did make A2 pre-ban CAR-15's! gmtmaster, The sleeve was nothing more than bicycle inner tube! Openfire, Yes, it is a thing of beauty isn't it? My pre-ban Eagle Arms only becomes better with time. Now after it's 2003 upgrade it's ready for the 21st century...[:D]

Yojimbo, that is a beauty! The one I found is beautiful too! Serial 168XX. I still would like to know what this thing is worth?
Link Posted: 10/10/2003 9:10:24 PM EDT
What's it worth? I'd say about $1200-1400 depending on it's condition. I never plan on selling mine so I never really asked around but those numbers should be pretty close.
