| I am int process of building my third gun and I must admit, the only thing that turns me on about the stainless barrels are the looks. I realize that having a stainless barrel chrome-lined may seem like either over kill or defeating the purpose, but I was wondering if a chrome-lined stainless barrel actually exists, and if so, where could I find one? Whatever barrel I go with, I want it to be able to take the abuse if I decide to bump-fire and still clean up easy at the end of the day. Thanks. |

Stainless barrels are easier to machine very consistantly, which means more accuracy, but they don't hold up as well under rapid fire. That's why you find stainless barrels on guns that NEED to be very accurate, and chrome-moly steel barrels on guns that need to last with high rates of fire. You wouldn't take a Cadillac to a race track, nor a Winston Cup car for a nice Sunday drive. Each has their place, but are out of place in the others' role. -Troy |
