I read that a thirty round AR mag will hold 9 rounds of .458 SOCOM.  So it would be legal for someone to manufacture 10 round .458 SOCOM mags that would also happen to hold about 33 rounds of .223.  It would have to be legal right?? As long as someone didn't load it with 5.56 it would be within compliance of AWB.

Yeah, there was some talk of this a while back, but I don't think anything ever came of it.  Probably nobody wants to go through the trouble with only about a year left till the AWB expires.

or, you cuold just buy one of the 40 round steel ones out there....

Check with PRI. I believe they make .499 LW 10 rounders. They're straight waffle style though.
