Here's a pic of a very good friend of mine. He's an NRA certified pistol instructor and a full-time RSO at a public range (that IS his day job). He competes in IPSC matches regularly and I've learned a lot from him. In the picture, he's holding a transferable 9mm M16 for a class 3 match we went to.

Well, Let's see, I'm ½ Hispanic, my wife is caucasian, my children are ¾ breeds and we all shoot. What category would we fall into?
BTW, my dad has blond hair & blue eyes. |

AnyMouse: I will share my recent educational experience with you. People from Asia are Asiansm not Orientals. They used to be Orientals I know, but it is no longer correct to refer to Asians as Orientals.
I was corrected by a Honkie, not an Asian, by the way. |

I'm a pasty white dude, but my kids are half-asian, and they BOTH love to shoot (my daughter is ten, my son is eight). As a matter of fact, my son practices in the backyard with an Airsoft XM-177 at a bb-catcher I made for him that has been placed out behind the garage. Here's a silly picture of him with his "baby." No, he doesn't have any tattoo's: he and his sister were fooling around with skin paint prior to their bath.

Most of my close IPSC pals are white guys... but at major matches there's a pretty good cross section of ethnicities... Asian, Filipino... but no African Canadians as I think about it... and no Lesbians either... but I'm pretty sure that the guy that beat me at Sunday's match is a fag... least that's what I called him anyway... [8D]

"Mongoloid" as an adjective refrers to the racial characteristics notable in . . . well, Asians; epicanthic folds, black hair and yellowish skin. However, Mongoloid, as a noun refers to a person who is member of the racial group with Mongoloid features. Nowadays, use of all the "oids" has fallen out of favor so we no longer may say Caucasoid, Negroid, or Mongoloid. |

One of my most enjoyable shooting buddies "god rest his soul" was an elderly man from mexico. I could not say he was hispanic, or mexican american, or any other term. He was a friend. I think anyone who you dont know on the level could be called a minority. I dont care for statistics, or who is out numbered. I know I am guilty of judging people sometimes but I never judge a fishing buddy, or a shooting buddy. I might give em a rashon of $hit sometimes but its all fun & games... You never know whats going on is some peoples minds these days, and I certainly try to read people since the 911 tragedy. It's funny how life was so simple as a kid, Soon did I realize that the kids were the real people, and the grown ups were the screwed up people... But things have changed since I was a kid and I would give anything to do it all over again, and I would not change a thing... I actually think that I am a minority sometimes, with all of the crap that we hear about these days... Not too many good ol' boys around these days. Well except here that is... Do not know what I would have done without all my Brothers from the east to square my actions...

not too many of them way up here in northern WI. i've seen a couple guys at the range and all seemed like nice people..except the asian kid that swept me with his rifle, but that has nothing to do with race. mostly really old dudes where i go.

Pasty skinned white man here. Never shot with anyone of a different ethnic background, mainly because the only ones I know that own guns, own them illegally, so no real desire to go shooting with em.
None are ever at the range, must say I'm kinda glad, since most of the young black kids these days are running around calling themselves thugs and being just as obnoxious as they can be - even if their daddy is a wealthy white collar worker. Sure might just be a phase, but I'm glad I'm not part of their phase. The rest of the ethnic people at work think guns are evil, some from haiti and cuba wouldnt even consider owning one. Ironic that. |

We have all kinds here in Mid-Mo...
Frankly, after 9/11, race(which has never been an issue with me - ever) or racial differences has diminished IMHO, because when I go to the range I'm shooting with AMERICANS... We all need to get this - If, or When, the SHTF we(Americans) will have to watch each others 6... And I personally hope ALL Americans band together "as one" when it becomes necessary... Oh... I'm white, blond, blue-eyed, with some Cherokee blood... [sniper2] |

I got 2 Korean kids, my son is 16, my daughter is 12. They both shoot rifle better than anybody I know. They're still working on pistol and shotgun skills. Their mother (the MRS) doesn't like guns, or shooting but she tolerates it in spite of being a socialist/commie/pinko. But I got lots of toys in spite of her opinions. The kids have their own .22's and each has a COlt SAA in .45.

My understanding of race is that there are only three, Caucasian, Mongoloid and Negro (I may not be using the proper tense though). I think classification has more to do with bone structure than with skin color. As for me, I'm light green with many dark green buddies and am far from being racist. I can't stand it in any form, whether it's redneck bigotry or affirmative action/quotas. Regards,

Well, I'm a pasty white guy and my favorite shooting partner is the little Chicano (I guess politically correct is now Latino) I married 27 years ago. Just can't get her to go as often as I do.
My son and daughter are firearm owners also, they just don't shoot as much. |

Well I'm 1/2 Hispanic which makes my dad 100% Hispanic (1/2 Mexican, 1/2 Spanish). My mom is Caucasian (mainly German) and my skin came out looking white [:D]. Anyways, I learned to shoot from my dad since he is a Vietnam vet (USMC Force Recon). Unfortunately, I'm the biggest shooter and gun freak in the family, although my dad isn't too far behind.

I am not white. I have some pigment, so I'm more pinkish than white. Unless I've been in the sun, then I'm either red or tan.
I usually check "Other" on forms, and write in "Bohmeian", as my father's family came over from Bohemia in the 19th century. Fun to skew the stats a bit. [nana] "Homo Sapien" is another good write in. I could also check "Native American" as I was born here, after all. Or, if I'm feeling really frisky when some PC monkey asks for my "race" I give them the works: "Czecho-Franco-Canadian-Anglo-Germanic-Celtic-American Person of Pinkness." They're all meaningless classifications, and the names don't mean squat. Popeye got it right "I yam what I yam." |

Hmmm.. I'm 100% Asian; parents came over and had me in the US of A.. I do mostly shoot with Occidentals [:D], though.
My suspicion is that you're going to be seeing more Asians in the shooting sports since previous generations were 1st gens from countries devoid of gun rights; younger Asians also tend to gravitate towards technical persuits such as engineering, which as many are aware, is a heavy gun interest profession. |

No one should get into any altercations over empty words. We're supposed to call blacks "African American." For the record, I call my black friends black, negro, colored, etc.. It seems that everyone has a PC name for their group but us poor white guys. If you look for an insult, you'll find one. Reminds me of a "sensitity awareness seminar" that my employer sent me to about 10 years ago (required for all managment). We were being told the names that we are supposed to use. "Physically challenged" came up and a fellow stands up and declares the whole thing to be "horse pukey," as he speaks he waves his hook and says that he's not "challenged", he's crippled. Shocked the heck out of the PC teacher. |

The range I shoot at is on the outskirts of East St. Louis Illinois. There is also an Air Force base not too far away. The ethnic diversity at the range is about as total as it gets. All I see there are a bunch of folks enjoying a common interest. BTW In the winter I am whale-belly white, but this time of year I start to get a little color of my own. The wife is American indian.

im jewish and according to some of my relatives the europeans said we wasnt white but according to my shooting buddies (chinese, irish,nigerian)im white. this race thing is kinda confusing but im learning to deal with it.
i have to agree with one poster though. i was born in the usa so im native american and that is how im going to answer from now on. god bless america and keep her free |
