| What is the best mod you ever made to your AR and why? I've had my AR and am thinking about what I want to do to make it better other than buying an insane amount of ammo so the gun becomes an exstention of myself. |

[blue]Personally I did the grip too. The best THING I ever do is properly break in my new barrels. Shoot a shot. . . clean it. Shoot another. . . clean it again. etc. etc. It's really boring and my least favorite thing to do but, I feel it makes a more accurate weapon and increases barrel life. Gotta love maintenance. . .[/blue] |

Without a doubt, hands down for me has been upgrading the stock trigger to a two-stage match trigger. With a bit of tinkering, i can dry fire the gun and the gun does not even flinch when Im looking through the scope.... I keep hearing about the grip, but have not tried a hogue or other style upgrade... Prosise |

1) Optics (either an EOTech or ACOG are my favs) 2) Sling (Wilderness Giles or single point) 3) Battlegrip. I don't call quality GI mags with springs and green followers a "mod" per se, but they are essential. If I am going for a home/ranch defense setup, I add a LW barrel and a Surefire M500 forend onto a flattop carbine. If I want to tack on all kinds of shit and turn it into a 10 pound gun, I add a KAC FFRAS and go from there. Oh yeah and lets not forget a Gemtech Bi-lock FS for the M4-96D. |
| #1 Optics #2 Free float the barrel #3 High capacity mags #4 Improved trigger #5 Anything that improves feel or shooting position. I didn't see anyone else mention to Free float the barrel. It is the best thing you can do to increase the accuracy of the gun. Improved trigger also will. Optics because you need to see what you are shooting and High capacity mags for improved firepower. |

Aimpoint. Makes for fast target acquisition. BTW I like their on/off switch much bettter than my Holosight. A quick twist and I know I will see the red dot. I don't like the Holosight nearly as well. Push and tap the on button until he gets bright enough. (Do the EOTechs work the same?) |

I have added an old surplus web M1 Garand sling and an ARMS scope mount to my A2 Bushie with a fixed 4X scope. I have not felt the need for anything else, although a red dot sight or illuminatd reticle scope would be nice for SHTF night work. Anyone who does not have a sling on a rifle won't be able to go very far with it. |
