You know, I hear it all the time, and I'm sure you do too. People will describe guys as "manly" or "masculine", but there's no clear definition as to what it means to be manly- or is there. So I ask: What are the characteristics of a manly man???

A manly-man ain't afraid to let people see him tear up at Gettysburg when standing at the end of Picketts Charge remembering what brave men will do. (or Bunker Hill, Vicksburg, or all the other places where brave men died)

A manly-man doesn't run for indoors or stay indoors when it's time morning or evening colors.  A manly-man stands when the flag passes during a parade and nobody else around him does.

A manly-man is polite and helps old folks, opens doors for women.

A manly-man tries to do the right thing answering only to himself and his God.

A real man will always be there.
A real man does not go quietly into the night.
A real man does not fear, and realizes limitations are a thing of the present, not for all time.

A real man is undeniably responsible.

He will give his all for others.

A real man has a well-defined value system that comes from forces he knows are much greater than he.

A real man choses freedom over security...death before slavery...honor over self-benefit.

Real men sacrifice for those who are weaker, work with those who are willing, and defend those that deserve it.

Manliness is defined as having the speed to get in before the lock when a topic (such as this) is not AR related! [;D]

Dude, if you are a man and don't already know what it takes, get over it.
By the way, just exactly what does this have to do with ARFCOM???

Amen to that.  The boy scout program was originally designed to teach boys about becoming men.
