The civilian version of the sir says no gunsmithing and the military 1 says it requiers removal of the delta ring.  Do they consider that gunsmithing or what else is involved in instaling the military version.

I don't own one, but I believe that the only gunsmithing part is to remove the delta ring (this requires removing the barrel).

I have the "M" and the only thing that needs to be removed is the delta ring assembly.
The barrel does NOT have to be removed to do this. You can use a Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel to do the job.

I own the ARMS SIR #45 civilian model.  As you know, it does not require the removal of the delta ring vs the military version which does.  I really love my SIR system.  I recommend getting the civilian version and not the military version.  You will love it.

Yeah, it's that simple. Just remove the delta ring and you are good to go.
I prefer the look of the "M" over the "C", myself, but aside from that they are both awesome pieces of gear!
