I recently purchased a colt m4 upper to add to my ar15.  I have identified it as a colt but have  been unable to identify it as a m4 upper.  I understand that there are identifying marks for m4's, can anyone post a pic?  Also, are there colt uppers with feed cuts but that aren't m4 uppers?

Colt M4 upper receivers have M4 stamped below the cloverleaf.

Is there a difference between the m4 and non m4's in appearance and function.  This would include things such as sights distances (600m or 800m) etc.?
