The best range bag I found for the money is the i-SHOT http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/ARCAMBAGLARGE

Blackhawk has some cool rifle cases that fold out into a shooting mat. their stuff is really expensive though. the one i'm looking at is a little over $100.

I use a large tackle box for my range "bag". Works really well.

Dillon has a very nice shooting mat for $70. I think their large range bag is the same price.

I've got a 5-gal bucket from FleetFarm with a seat/lid. Holds a ton of mags & ammo, but can be a little hard to get to stuff on the bottom. My father-in-law just got a tool "belt" that fits over the top of a bucket.

Thanks for the pointers, guys. I ended up going with Bagmaster's AR-15 Pro Shooter's bag from Brownells (100-000-926): http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=17334 and Creedmoor Sports' roll-up shooting mat: http://www.creedmoorsports.com/N040a.htm Both are a little pricey, but both are very good quality.

For my shooting mat I just went out and got a closed cell sleeping bag mat. It's plenty long but just a tad narrower than some of the mats out there. But for like 16 bucks I don't think it was too terribly bad a price. I have it on my Eagle AIII pack's sleeping bag straps so it goes right along with me when I'm out shooting. I use my AIII as a part range bag and as a hiking pack along with a shooting rest when terrain permits.
