Can anybody tell me how much a free float tube from Rock River, DPMS, etc. weighs?  How much does a standard barrel nut weigh?  I am looking at installing a Service Rifle style free float tube, but I want to know how much weight this will add.

Be warned. I don't know exactly where all the info came from on that site (or what exactly they were measuring) but...

I weighed the standard barrel nut, delta ring, spring, clip, cap and single heatshield handguards. They came in at a total of 6.7 oz.

Most Aluminum freefloat handguards are much heavier than that.

The hogue is advertised at 9 oz.

I had a carbon fiber handguard that was 8.5 oz.

I now have the ultralight carbon fiber handguard (hiperform) that is 6.0 oz (I think this is the lightest).

So depending on the handguard you could add >2.5 oz or you could remove about 1 oz.

Thanks for the replies, but, just to clarify, I am interested in the type of free-float tube that mount under the normal handguards.  These are typically used for Highpower Service Rifle competition and are made to retain the external appearance of the standard handguards.

how can it be considered free float if you use stadard hand guards?  Standard handguards attach to the barrel near the muzzle end.

The ff tube itself has the handguard cap built onto the front where the regular handguards slide into.

I'm not sure how much they weigh, I'm expecting to take delivery of a new ArmaLite SPR II which has the NM sleeve on it.  If no one has answered your question by the time it arrives, I'll weigh it and let you know.  It's due in on Thursday.  I'm removing the tube anyway to install a PRI forend for a customer.

KS,
One of mine seems to be right at 1#. Check with CLE or John Holliger for their tube weights.
