| Ok, here's my choices. A preban Oly Car 15 for $1,200 or a preban Colt A1 for $1,450. Both are in excellent condition. Which is the better buy? Thanks. |

It would depend on which model Colt it is. Does it have the raised mag fence and small front pivot pin? If not I'd have to recommend the Olympic. Besides having the small front pivot pin and mil-spec fire control pins Olympic will remanufacture an older lower for $100 + shipping. |

The Colt has better features, Chrome lined barrel, M16 size chamber, More Mil-spec parts. I don't know about not accepting an "Oly" give away but the Colt will make a better multi-purpose weapon. From what I've learned Colt and Bushmaster are the way to go. Check prices on a Bushmaster if you want Colt quality for less. |

The recent Colt's that I have seen did not have chrome line barrel. For the money Oly is a better deal. |

Another point, if the barrel is the one that came with the rifle, then chances are it's chambered for .223, not milspec 5.56. |

Quoted: Stay away from oly unless you like having to send the gun to the factory for repair and having to wait 14 months to get it back . I take it you have not had to deal with Colt as much as some of us have. If you think Olympic is bad, Colt is 10 times worse. Their factory repair is like getting 10 root canels over 10 days WITHOUT pain killer! PREBAN Oly's did have tighter magwells. This can easily be fixed. Oly is one of the FEW who will allow you to send in your PREBAN and they will manufacturer from current production a new lower with the old serial number and it KEEPS the PREBAN designation! Cost is $100. Colt has been rumored to do this, but most people cannot seem to get it done. |
