I just got a new RRA complete lower with postban CAR style stock (from a respectable dealer over the internet, not straight from the factory).  I put it on my upper and tried to cock it but it only pulls back about an inch.  I took it apart and found that the buffer only moves about an inch.  Took out the buffer and buffer spring, it's got a full size buffer like this one .  Now when I first placed the order the dealer said that he ordered an RRA stock but they hadn't shipped it yet.  So after about a week or so of waiting for the stock from RRA my lower was shipped, but he didn't say specifically that the RRA stock is the one he put on it.  So here's my guess on the problem;  He ordered an RRA pinned collapsable stock (that uses a full length buffer tube / buffer) but it was taking too long to ship, so he put a different brand collapsable stock on it (that uses the carbine length buffer tube / buffer) and didn't realize he needed a carbine specific buffer for the shorter tube.  Sound plausible?  Oh yeah, from what I've heard RRA pinned collapsable stocks are marked with an RRA logo, I cannot find a logo of any company on my stock.  Thanks for the help.

The stock is supposed to be a postban, pinned stock, yes?

Does the stock collapse without the buffer in it?  If so, it's illegal on your RRA lower, so the buffer is irrelevant.

RRA stocks are available with or without the logo.

It does not collapse no matter what I do to it.  The lever doesnt move at all.

I was under the impression that most post-ban fake collapsable stocks still used a carbine length buffer tube, and that only recently had companies like RRA started making them with full A2 length buffer tubes.  Am I misinformed?

(edited my original message because I didn't clarify this is a POST-BAN stock)

Not misinformed, that is correct. AFAIK, RRA is the only one using a rifle-length buffer in theirs.

If someone could tell me the actual length of the A2 and carbine buffer tubes it would be easy to tell which I had.  My buffer tube is 7" deep.

EDITED: to add that my buffer is 6" long.

7" buffer tube minus 6" buffer leaves only 1" for travel.

Add Bushmaster to the list of fake-postban carbine stocks with full-length buffers and tubes.  However, Bushmaster has its logo on the side of mine.

you can tell the difference by a long shot.  The carbine buffer tube is about 3/4 that size if i remember right.  Bushy does use full length buffer in the fake folders.
