Well I finally got to put my new and first AR through it's paces.  It's a 20 inch Bushmaster A2.  Yesterday I put nearly 400 rounds through it without a single failure of any kind.  I was shooting Federal XM193 lot #10 and using British steel 30 round mags.  The mags functioned perfectly.  The bolt always stayed open after the last round and they inserted easily even on a closed bolt.

I performed the improved 50 yard zero using the standard A2 sights.  At fifty yards thirty rounds stayed in a very tight group.  At one hundred yards I shot three mags (90 rounds)off the bench into a 3 inch group with no fliers with the group centered about 2 inches high.  The temp was about 50 degrees with a strong downrange breeze. I fired the three mags without letting the barrel cool.  I fired each shot as soon as I was back on target.

After my first experience I'm sold.  I haven't had so much fun shooting in years.  My only complaint is that the rear sight required quite a bit of windage since the gun was shooting about 6 inches to the right with the aperature centered.  Is there a way to drift the front sight to compensate?

I unfortunatly pissed off one of my fellow shooters.  After I had fired about 250 rounds this guy shows up and takes the bench next to me.  He was sighting in a big bore lever action, .444 I think.  Apperently my brass kept hitting him.  He got a little pissed and gave me some attitude.  I told him I didn't realize I was hitting him and appologized.  At that point the bench to my left became free so I did the nice thing and moved over and didn't even get a thank you.  Has anyone used any type of shell deflecter with any sucess??  Let me know because I do try to be considerate of my fell shooters.

I plan on getting back to the range in a few weeks to do a little two hundred yard practice.  I'm already considering building up an M-forgery upper with a SIR and either an Eotech or Compact ACOG.
