For some reason it just felt right to go to the range today so I finally shot my new Bushy 20" A2. I shot LC 193 and Black Hills 55grn fmj. No problems at all.I shot at 50 yards.

This is my first ar15. Is is just me or is it hard to be very precise with the iron sights even at 50 yards? I am used to handgun iron sights so maybe I am aligning the sight wrong? How do you line up for elevation with this type of rear sight?

Most people have difficulty adjusting to sight picture.  If possible put nose on charging handle to get same sight picture every time.

If that is uncomfortable just make sure and keep the front sight in the center of the circle.

I was out yesterday with my Bushy 16" A2 Shorty with old '78 LC 55gr ammo with decent groups at 200 yards with open sights.

It just takes practice...

my first experience with the ar at just 25 yds to get it dialed in were "dissapointing".  i thought i had a bad rifle at first.  then i learned the first thing of putting the nose against the charge handle..sight picture stable, groups got better.  adapted to the trigger, groups better yet.  national match small hole rear peep,  1/2" groups consistantly at 50 yds now.  at 100 i can barely spot a 2" center dot bullseye on the targets i down load from the internet but i can group in it or just around it.  i dont think ill ever go sub-moa at that range with irons.  shooting since 7 (30 years now) and still havent removed my slight flinch
