This is my first real post, so here goes. I am looking at buying an AR and was wondering about the NM triggers. I was wondering if I need one, or even want one. I will be using this AR mostly for coyote hunting, which will include running shots, and some range work. The reason I ask is that I am looking at the RRA lowers, due to all the good words on here, and it is my understanding that they come with the NM trigger. Is this correct? Would I be better off with a standard trigger and what is the actual difference? Thank you very much, and thanks for this great site. |
| I bought an Armalite standard flattop 20" bbl AR for the same purpose as you. I love the rifle, excellent quality. The trigger sucks. It is heavy and creepy. I will be replacing mine for sure. If you can, buy one with a trigger upgrade and avoid the dissapointment. Otherwise it should be a great coyote rig. |

2-stage has, well, two stages. The first is most of the pull weight and a little bit of travel. Then the second is just a little bit more, and no travel. So a 4-1/2 lb trigger can be 3-1/2 lb first stage and 4-1/2 lb second stage, but you'll think it feels like the 1 lb difference between the stages. Everybody says they're great, but I haven't used one. You'll probably like it better than the standard trigger. I upgraded mine, but stuck with single-stage. |
| With a 2-stage trigger there is a light stage where you take up the slack, then a second stage that takes an additional pound or so to release the hammer. The total pull weight is 4-4.5 pounds but since there's only 1 pound of additional pressure after you've taken out the slack it feels lighter than it is. |
