I noticed on another board someone mentioned the term SP2.  Did Colt ever make an SP2???

I have an SP1 with an M-16A1 upper and I sometimes call it an SP1A1 for fun....could that be an SP2 so to speak????

The Colt SPIIs had a lower that was roll marked "Colt AR15 A2" "Sporter II".  They had A1 uppers with forward assist, no shell deflector and a government profile barrel with an A2 flash hider.

The AR-15 A2  Sporter II was replaced with the "Government" in late '88-early '89. I bought a Sporter II, then sold it a couple month later, and took delivery of the Government Sporter in Jan-'89. It has the shell deflector, A2 front and rear sight set, A2 barrel and flash hider, small pin fire group, large pivot pin, and no sear block.

Purdy shot up the schoolyard almost 2 week later. Thanks to that dumbass, all the rerstriction, sporting use and AW crap started brewing.
