[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Building a flattop upper

After upgrading my AR-15 over the years to be a CMP rifle, I am left with a heavy 1 in 9" twist barrel, the original handguards (after installing a free float handguard) and the original gas tube. I am thinking of buying a flattop upper, and piecing the parts together for a scoped upper for coyote hunting. Any advice as to which upper I should buy, and where I should order it from ? What other parts will I need ? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Funny you bring this up. I have an upper that I don't know what to do with.

Then I checked my inventory, and like you, have a lot of accessories to spare. I figure with only a new 20" barrel and lower reciever, I've got myself another rifle!
