I know alot has been written about this system and have just spent about an hour wading through it but can't seem to find answers to 2 quick questions.

How much does a #45 SIR weigh?

What material is it made out of? I see its a 2 piece unit, are the upper & lower made from the same material?

made of aluminium .. weighs i think about 5 oz more than standard hand guards .. or is it 4

The SIR-M is made of aluminium and polymer. The upper part is aluminium and the lower part is polymer. Its total weight (including the rail that bolts onto the upper receiver) is around 19oz.
