Please help.

I own a Armalite 223 A4 Carbine Postban. My problem is that I was given for Christmas a ARMS S.I.R system for it and guess what? It does not fit properly. Mine is a Carbine, and the SIR system is for a shorty, so when installed it leaves a 1-2 inch area exposed between the gas block and the SIR.

I have called Armalite and it seems that they do not sell a Shorty barrell for my gun unless you are law enforcement. Or at least that's what I was told.

I like the front gas block and removable sights that is on the Armalite and really would like to keep the entire gun Armalite, but I would also like to use my SIR.

Does anyone here know if Armalite makes what Im looking for? I know other mfg's do but I like mine the way it is except for this problem.

Thanks to all in advance.

Sounds like your rifle has "mid-length" handguards, which are 1-2 inches longer than standard carbine handguards.

apolloz66,
I just checked Armalite's website. It would appear that your carbine does use the Medium length handguards.
Your SIR will not fit, as you have found out.

Nope it will definately not fit, properly.

But someone here should know whether or not Armalite makes a shorty barrell. If not I will have to go to another manufacturer.

My goal was to keep everything Armalite. However that may not be in the cards for me.
BTT Anyone?

you don't need a "shorty" barrel. Just a barrel with a standard carbine length sight radius/handguards.
Any 16"/14.5" carbine barrel will work with your SIR as long as it doesn't use Medium Length handguards.

Edit: "Shorty" is just a nickname given to carbines because they are shorter than standard rifles.
Like the Bushmaster AK Shorty. Just a standard carbine w/an AK brake.

Armalite is starting its line of M4geries soon, right? Maybe I heard wrong. Some members have talked of these in the new Armalite catalog(i wouldn't know, haven't gotten a catalog in a year)I think.
