I don't know a lot about Colts. I was offered a "Colt A2 Sporter, 20", Excellent condition, fixed handle, round hand guard, f/s w/solid bottom, bayo lug, all orig, SN SP330XXX" The number checks out as pre, and the fixed handle and "solid bottom f/s" are consistant with an A2, but that's about all I know. Can anyone tell from this info what twist the barrel is? Is there a large pin/ small pin issue? Is it worth my going to check out? What's a fair price? THANKS |

Look on the top of the barrel and it should read "1/7 5.56 NATO". Again, there's only a pin issue if the upper receiver has been replaced and it sounds to me like it hasn't. Are all three holes the same size? Is it worth my going to check out? I sure would. What's a fair price? Can't help there. Sorry. |

Thanks for the link. Looks like it could be one of a couple, as I don't see an "A2 Sporter" on the charts. I would have to do a little travelling to check it out. 1 in 7 is good. I don't have anything that will handle the new majic 1 stop wonder rounds [;)] By pin size I mean can I just swap out any upper, or is it semi-proprietary? BTW, guy is asking $1,100. |
