was curious if anyone has considered using moly on the bolt carrier and inside upper receiver pros/cons? SEMPER FI |
| Damn!!! I was about to ask the same thing! I hate moly bullets, but I was thinking the same thing. I would think that it would make things work just fine, if not a little better. But I had a friend in the Army National Guard tell me to leave it along and just use CLP. |

I use dry moly on the bolt, and a THIN film of Dow Corning "G" on the bearing surfaces of the bolt carrier.Attracts less dust than oil/CLP Don't put it on the locking lugs, or anywhere near where it could get in the chamber. Moly coated bullets are fine, moly coated brass/chambers are grenades. Meplat- |
| Bushmaster uses a moly film on the inside of the upper recievers and inside of buffer tubes. The first time you hit it with Gun Scrubber it will come off. A few doses of CLP will pull it off too. It is not wrth the time or effort to coat the Bolt and carrier with something that will wear off in one shooting session. There are Moly enhanced gun lubes that work OK but remeber Moly in and of itself attacts water and is corrosive. Something must be added to it to prevent it from corroding your rifle. |
