Just traded my Marlin 17VS for a Bushmaster A2.
Has a 14.5" barrel with an AK brake.

Been reading about the Aimpoint and the carryhandle mount. Here is my question. I want to change the handguard to the V Match handguard. Will the Aimpoint mount work with this handguard? I have seen some pictures were the mount looks like it rests on the handguard, will the V Match cause any problems?

Also how hard is it to change out the handguard?
Any tips or suggestions?

IIRC the V-match HG is smaller diameter than the A2 HGs, so I don't think there'd be a problem with that mount.

I believe changing out the HG would require removing the front sight from the barrel and the barrel from the upper.  The HG would replace the barrel nut, then reassemble the upper and the sight.

You might look at just getting a 16" V-match upper.

I suggest getting the red dot and mount and forgetting about the free float tube for now. freefloating a rifle with a dot type site is a waste IMHO.
