My plan is to build an SPR-Type Rifle.
I don't mind deviating from what is GI(using an SN-3, rather than an M3).  I'm open to new ideas, and will keep things posted, here.

I'm starting with a pre-ban Eagle Arms Action Master (without the scope that's shown):

Eagle Arms Flat top receiver
Eagle Arms model specific flash hider/compensator
20" Douglass SS Match barrel
Single-stage match trigger.

I'm going to mount a US Optics SN-3:

...and I'm going to ask Wes at MSTN to put a PRI front sight and Forend on her:

Things that I haven't decided:

...whether to cut the barrel down to 18"
What Flash Hider/ Muzzle Comp?

Telestock? ...if so, which one? ...new Colt or old Colt?

How should I mount the USO SN-3?
with a USO Posi-Shift?
...or will the non-milspec rail be a problem?

ARMS#35?

All input is welcome.
Thanks.

C,

IF THE RIFLE IS POST-BAN WITH MUZZLE BRAKE PINNED ON, YOU'LL BE FORCED TO CHOP IT OFF IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE GAS BLOCK AND BARREL NUT.

IF PRE-BAN, NO PROBLEM. KEEP IT AT 20", ESPECIALLY IF:

1. MOUNTING A BIG SCOPE. THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ANY CQB WEAPON YOU'RE BUILDING, BUT AN ALL-OUT ACCURACY PACKAGE WHERE WEIGHT IS NOT SO MUCH OF AN ISSUE.

2. IT IS SHOOTING WELL. NEVER MESS WITH WHAT WORKS!

WE'LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THE P.R.I. TUBES SHOW UP.

Wes, do you have any suggestions, in terms of mounting the scope?

I would consider using Superhigh Leupold Mark4 rings for that scope. If you must have a removable mount, the Armalite one piece is great or use an ARMS #5 with Mark 4s or ARMS #21 stanag rings.

I am definitely considering the Armalite one-piece.
...also:

The USO Posi-Shift
or
ARMS#35 + #21 Rings

IF THE U.S.O. SN-3 HAS OTHER THAN A 30MM TUBE, STICK WITH THEIR MOUNT.

IF IT HAS A 30MM TUBE, YOU HAVE LOTS OF CHOICES. BUT WITHOUT KNOWING THE DIMENSIONS OR EYE RELIEF OF THE SCOPE, I CANNOT SAY WITH ASSURANCE WHAT WILL NOT WORK. IT'S A FAIRLY LARGE SCOPE. BUT THIS IS WHAT WILL:

ARMS #35 QD BASE WITH LOW OR MEDIUM #35 TRACK LOCK RINGS

ARMS #36-EX WITH SAME RINGS AS ABOVE OR SIMILAR
HEIGHT RINGS BY BADGER, LEUPOLD, ETC.

THERE ARE OF COURSE OTHERS, DEPENDING ON EYE RELIEF/LENGTH REQUIREMENTS.

FIRST RULE: YOU GOTTA HAVE CORRECT EYE RELIEF FOR THE SCOPE.

SECOND RULE: THEN JUST REMEMBER TO KEEP THE AXIS OF THE SCOPE AT THE CORRECT HEIGHT FOR PROPER CHEEK WELD.

ON AN AR-15, THAT WOULD BE APPROX. 1.4" ABOVE THE FLAT TOP. IT WOULD BE 1.25" WITH AN AR-10 OR SR-25, DUE TO THEIR GREATER DROP AT THE COMB. THAT'S WHY KNIGHT'S SR-25 RINGS ARE 1.273" ON CENTER.

The scope has a 30mm tube, and a 44mm obj..
The specs of this scope(length, weight, eye relief) are almost identical to that of the Leupold M3 (except for the larger obj.)

Right now, I'm leaning towards the USO Posi-Shift.

HOWEVER, if there is a QD solution, that won't compromise accuracy, I'm interested.
