Is there a setup were a shotgun can be mounted on an AR or M4 that can be put in place of the grenade/flare launcher? I'm only asking because I thought I saw one in Blackhawk Down but not sure.

There is a short barreled shotgun available that can be mounted on an AR. An SBR license and $200 tax will allow you to do that legally.

Thanks, I think I found the answer over at the M-16 section. I guess it's the masterkey system. Sounds like it's too heavy to be practical.
