I am looking for a variable scope to put on a bolt gun that is suitable for hunting and punching paper. Key criteria include: - appx. 40mm objective lens - adjustable objective - wide field of view - magnification on the order of 4-12 to 4-16 - constant eye relief - finger adjustable windage/elevation Here are the models I am considering: Nikon Monarch 3.3-10x44AO $338 Simmons Whitetail Expedition 4-12x42AO $180 Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40AO $227 Weaver V-16 4-16x42AO $290 Nikon Monarch 4-16x40AO $304 Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x40AO $329 I appreciate your assistance. |

How about the new Zeiss Conquest? 4.5-14x44 side focus....$599.95 That would be my first pick then : Elite 4200 4-16x40 Weaver V16 4-16x42 These two are very nice scopes. Both have finger adjustable windage and elevation. Both are also quad power scopes, they go 4x their original magnification. Optically they are both awesome as is the Monarch but they don't have finger adjustable knobs unless you get the 6.5-20 with target knobs. On the lower end the Simmons WhiteTail Expedition dominates. Its knobs are finger adjustable (barely). They have a little handle on top you can grap, but its not as good as the Weaver or Elite. CF SWFA, Inc. www.RifleScopes.com |
